RESERVATIONS

Because tea and food will be served, the organizations with whom we work require reservations. When you phone or email to book your tour, please provide your name, the number of people in your party, and a phone number so that we may call you back. To guarantee your reservation, credit card payment via Paypal or a check is required at least one week in advance. Groups of 10 or more need two weeks notice. A written confirmation will be mailed to you.

Once the reservations have been made, no cancellations will be permitted. Should the need arise, we will be happy to arrange another date for you or you may offer your reservation to someone else.

We reserve the right to cancel a tour, in which case we will gladly arrange another tour for you to attend.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A GROUP OF 6 OR 10?

Fee minimums apply for smaller groups or private tours. We often combine several smaller groups. Please contact us to discuss dates and availability.

TEA CLASSES & SEMINARS
Classes and seminars, lasting approx. 2 hours, are held at a variety of notable tea locations throughout the city. Adult guests will be seated at one or multiple tables depending upon the size of the group. Events may be scheduled for a weekday or on a weekend. Some locations are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, however. Wheelchairs can generally, but not always, be accommodated.

WALKING TOURS
Walking tours are appropriate for ambulatory adults and can be arranged for a weekday or on a weekend. Unfortunately, we can not provide wheelchairs nor guarantee that locations or curbs will have ADA ramps, elevators, etc. If a walker chooses to leave a tour in progress we will not provide refunds.

TIME & DISTANCE
Tours, including a meal, last approx. 3 1/2- 4 hours depending up the size of the group and its interests, and cover approx. 1-2 miles. We will be walking at a moderate pace, on busy, sometimes crowded streets, with stops at various indoor locations along the way. We are rarely outdoors for more than a block at a time.

ALL EVENTS BEGIN ON TIME. PLS. PLAN TO ARRIVE 5 MINUTES EARLY SO YOU WON’T MISS ANYTHING OR BE LEFT BEHIND.

INCLEMENT WEATHER
Walking tours are held rain or shine. Pls. check the weather forecast, www.weather.com, and dress appropriately. In the event of a serious storm, or other potentially dangerous situation, we reserve the right to cancel the tour. Pls. call 570-224-6474 or 212-810-7125 (cell phone), on the morning of the tour, after 8:00 AM, to confirm the schedule.

DRESS
Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers for walking tours. Check the weather forecast to see if you’ll need a hat or umbrella. There will be plenty of places to shop; you might like to bring a back-pack or shopping bag.

Most class and seminars will be held in a formal setting. Although you may dress in jeans and sneakers, you will likely be more comfortable wearing “special occasion clothes” such as a dress, skirt or dressy trousers for women and a jacket or collared shirt for men. Hats are not required, but always admired.

BATHROOMS
We do not stop for bathroom breaks during tours, but most tours begin near hotels or restaurants in which there are bathrooms.

MEETING SITES & DIRECTIONS
Meeting sites and subway directions can be found with the tour descriptions. Most tours do not conclude where they began. We will provide directions to subways or back to the meeting point, at the end of the tour.

TOUR HOTLINE
Our Toll Free 866-616-1154 and Local 201-222-1154 numbers have voice mail systems. There is no operator service, but if you leave a message with your name and number we will be able to return your call.

TOUR GUIDE
All seminars and tours are personally hosted by Elizabeth Knight. Her photo is on her website www.teawithfriends.com

DOGS
Seeing eye and other guide dogs are permitted on the tours.

Smoking is not permitted at any of the indoor locations. Outdoors, we ask smokers to stand far enough away from the group so as not to inconvenience others.
